RSPB Visit

Image
This week we were lucky enough to have a visit from the RSPB (Royal society for the protection of birds).  We enjoyed an assembly where we learnt about different species of birds and then we went outside to explore nature within our school grounds. We used a tally system when looking for different things that affect habitats within our outdoor spaces. We realised that we need more log piles so creepy crawlies have another place to live! Here are some of our pictures, you can tell from our smiles that we were really enjoying this outdoor learning experience.

Blue Peter Presenters

Image
In literacy we have started learning our non-fiction text. For this we have been writing instructions to Year 1, telling them how to make a papier mache planet. We made our own planets at the end of year 1 and they are displayed in our book corner, take a look next time you're in!  We learnt the set of instructions using a text map. We then watched some episodes of Blue Peter to give us some handy tips on how to present. Some brave children used props to perform their instructions to the rest of the class. They worked really hard to speak fluently and with great expression. Well done Year 2!

Autumn walks

Image
In year 2 we have been enjoying watching the changing seasons. It's time to wrap up warm and enjoy this chilly autumn weather. We have loved observing the leaves changing colour and falling to the ground, along with collecting conkers on our walks to school!      We had  a  lovely autumn walk around our playground and here's what we s aw. We are hoping to collect some leaves and use them to inspire our artwork. Watch this space!

Welcome Back to Year 2!

Welcome back to Year 2, we have so much exciting learning to do this year and I really look forward to sharing it with you all! We've had a very exciting start to the year, our highlight so far has been our WOW day, linked to our topic 'Blast Off''. We linked some of these activities to our text in literacy, 'Man on the Moon.' Ask your child to tell you this story, we have learnt it using a text map. Take a look at our photos to see what we've been up to.
